Our story
Renzo Formigli is one of the last craftsmen in the world capable of creating custom, unique, and personalized racing frames.
Renzo Formigli was born in Florence in 1968 into a family of cyclists. From a young age, he was immersed in the world of bicycles, and at the age of eight, he told to his mother that he wanted wanted to become a racing bicycle builder when he grew up. At twelve, with the support of Sirio Bartoli, he began visiting workshops where bicycles were worked on, to explore the mechanics of this fascinating object, and more importantly, to begin building his first bicycle using a tubing kit he had asked his father to gift him.
Thus, the first bicycle of Renzo Formigli was born: the first step in a long journey that would lead him to become one of the last true artisans in the world. A pivotal moment in his career came at the age of 21, when he met Cino Cinelli . Cinelli, one of the most renowned builders of the time, impressed by by the enthusiasm and dedication of the young man, took him under his wing, teaching him the secrets of this craft and the best techniques for creating racing bicycles with exceptional qualities. When we encounter a Formigli bicycle with steel tubes and lugs carefully assembled and finished, we realize that only a true expert in the field could have conceived something so ‘perfect.’ Although the materials have evolved since Cinelli’s time, Renzo has remained faithful to the lessons taught by his “master,” particularly in Design.
