Aluminum
Aluminum Road Frames
Aluminum is a material that may have been sidelined too quickly, probably because it is not very comfortable. However, despite the many theories surrounding it, one thing is undeniable: it has essential properties for building a frame. Its responsiveness remains unmatched, and probably, even today, carbon fiber still does not reach the torsional rigidity that aluminum holds. Moreover, when this material is combined with special alloys, the frame achieves a remarkable weight.
For many years, in top-level competitions, from the Tour de France to the Giro d’Italia, many riders have competed on aluminum bicycles. Therefore, while it is true that with the advent of carbon fiber we have achieved an almost perfect balance between comfort and responsiveness, it is equally true that aluminum is still one of the most recommended materials when we want maximum responsiveness from a bicycle. Not by chance, our Uriel frame is chosen for time trials and some track racing specialties.
